“Interpreting Prophesy in The Bible Code”

by Raphael C. Jerome

~ An excerpt ~

The Bible is not a book of rules.  Any leader knows that to rule his people by simply establishing blanket rules

is weak leadership.  The true leader knows how to reason with people in order to help them do what he wants them to do from their hearts. Jesus didn't really tell people what to do.  He provided people with necessary information, through stories and real-life examples to help them to either make decisions from their hearts, or define what they really believed.  This kept them, from sitting on the fence and forced them to take action one way or the other. The Bible is a book of concepts, of spiritual principles to discover. We must study these spiritual principles to help us make pertinent decisions. These same principles need to be applied to interpreting of Bible prophecy whether encoded in the Bible Code or simply found in the plain text.  A truly remarkable example of this is the lessons that can be seen through the history and growth of the Christian Church, which is consistent with the history of Judaism in the Old Testament.

Everyone has his or her opinions about the Bible Code.  Most have many questions that are left unanswered.

The reason for this is as simple as the story of the six blind men and the elephant:

Six blind men were asked to describe what an elephant is like.  The first took hold of the trunk and exclaimed,  "The elephant is like a snake!"  Another took hold of a leg and said,  "Oh, no!  The elephant is like a tree!"  The third one put his hand to the broad side of the animal and said, "Oh, no!  I believe you are mistaken!  The elephant is like a wall!"  The fourth took the tail and said, "But, sirs!  It is evident, the elephant is like a rope!"  The fifth one, who had a grasp on the ear, insisted that it was like a leaf! And still the last one, holding the tusk said, "No!  You are all wrong!  It is very clear that the elephant is like a spear!"  Everyone is right, and everyone is wrong, judged it only by the elements of the 6 people individually. But it takes a seventh person, who is not blind, but sees above and beyond the limited scope of man to put it all together.  Likewise, with the Bible Code, if we judge only by the physical, material, mathematical, statistical, historical and linguistic elements of man, we only see partially and out of perspective.  Creation has revealed it to us.  Man, without the addition of the Spirit of God is just an arm, a leg, a head, a hand, a foot, a meaningless and useless piece of clay.  However, with the Spirit of God, he becomes the wonderful creation of God that he was created to be. If he can only stay within the para-meters of God's will and His spiritual principles, he will accomplish what God has intended.

It is the purpose of this book to bring to light another perspective in interpreting the Bible Code: the 7th element-the spiritual!

Throughout history, attempts to invalidate God's Word for one reason or another have been numerous.  No other single book has suffered so many attacks on its’ very existence. These attacks against the Word of God date from the Garden of Eden, when the Serpent tried to make Eve disbelieve the commandments of God in saying, "Hath God said." Later on, in the story of Cain and Abel, Cain tried to kill God's message of approved behavior and worship. Still later, the Word of God was threatened by the various empires that God allowed to conquer the Hebrew nation because of their disobediences.

In certain countries, the Bible has been attacked by various dictatorships that tried to annihilate the concept

of religion.  But today the Bible is suffering its’ most vicious attacks, as its’ own authenticity is being questioned. Isn't it strange though, at a time when the Word seems to be revealed to us in a new dimension, the dimension

of the E.L.S. codes, the Word suffers its’ attacks not on doctrine, but on the authenticity of its’ origins?

Jewish sages throughout the centuries have also believed in messages encoded in letter sequence in the Bible.

In the twelfth century, one of the greatest sages in history, Nachmanides, said the whole history of Israel could be found written in Deuteronomy 32.  In the thirteenth century, Bahia Ben Asher, a rabbi from Saragozza, Spain, also described a process involving the equidistant skipping of letters in the Torah, in order to obtain divine infor-mation. In the eighteenth century, Elijah Solomon, one of the greatest Jewish sages, said the whole history of the world is written in the Torah.  To discover that, it is evident we must study this Word of God outside the normal dimensions.

The renowned scientist, Sir Isaac Newton, believed in the Bible Code. After he died, his biographer discovered

Sir Isaac Newton had figured the whole universe was nothing more than a cryptogram set by God.  He spent

the last years of his life doing research on esoteric theology and the Bible Code. But the Codes in the Bible could not be effectively or thoroughly explored without more advanced technology and today, with the advent of the computer, the possibilities of research have enormously increased.

It was only in 1994 that the paper - containing the decades of studies by Eliyahu Rips and his colleagues, Doron Witztum and Yoav Rosenberg - came out in the U.S. scholarly journal, Statistical Science. Eliyahu Rips created his own research program and many others were able to replicate his research. Could the codes of today be the parables of yesterday and the dreams of yester-yesterday?
